June 2010

June began with a great family reunion. Alex returned from serving his 2-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Oregon...just in time for us all to gather and see Sterling graduate from dental school and baby Emery be blessed in Oklahoma.

Our little family then headed down to Dallas to meet our other new niece, Rachel (no picture darn it!), and hang out with Uncle Brett, Aunt Tracy, and our cousins in Dallas for a few days.
Then we drove down to Houston to spend some more time with Grandma & Grandpa and some aunts and uncles and see their new house. Besides swimming in their neighborhood pool almost everyday, we did the following:
We visited the Houston Temple. It was really pretty!
We went to the Blue Bell Ice Cream Factory and saw how ice cream is made and packaged. The free samples were so good!
We went to the Houston Children's Museum and the nearby Health & Sciences Museum downtown.

We made a trip to Galveston. We rode the ferry with our car to Galveston Island and back before we hit the beach. The Gulf of Mexico is really warm.

We wrapped up the day with some dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. The animals were entertaining to the older kids and scary to the younger ones. Then we made the long drive back to our house. Luckily we were able to break it into two days and stay with Sterling and Britt on the way. Thanks to Crystal for volunteering to drive with me and the kids. (Jeff flew home earlier for work)
