October 2010

We started out October by taking some family pictures. My friend's sister-in-law from Kansas is a photographer and was in town for the weekend. I really like this little covered bridge. A week later, the kids and I enjoyed a beautiful fall day at Vala's Pumpkin Patch. It was so nice outside that we ended up staying almost the entire day. Yes, there really is that much to do at this enormous pumpkin patch. Next came the Halloween activities at school. Here is Austin with his wolf man friend aka Charlie.
Then, there was the trunk-or-treat at church. We definitely had a star wars theme going on this year. Wyatt was Yoda, Danielle was Princess Leia, and Luke was of course Luke Skywalker. Austin was a NASA Astronaut. (He got his costume at the Air & Space Smithsonian in March) Jeff was the hit of the party with his skater garb and mohawk. Yes...it's real. There's nothing quite like waking up to your husband with a mohawk. He was promptly advised to shave it all off the next morning.
The day before Halloween, we carved pumpkins and made carmel apples with our friends the Pugmires. The kids enjoyed free-handing their unique designs while the adults plodded along with patterns.

Because Halloween fell on a Sunday this year, the kids happily settled for a big bag each of their favorite candy and took over the role of handing out candy instead of trick-or-treating themselves.
